comments by outside politicians warning canada not to be naive in it's interactions with authoritarian regimes are themselves naive. canada was at one time many decades ago somewhat of a haven for liberalism, but it has been sliding into the worst kind of authoritarianism for many, many years and has in truth already arrived at that point several years ago. canadians should be on the streets protesting and striking against these kinds of laws, but the reality is that few people here attach much value to the freedom that we used to have, and the people of this country flatly deserve the outcome they get.
