“You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war.” - winston churchill, 1938
yeah.

good call.

this is an establishment think tank in the centre of canada's political establishment.

"if we just give the fascists everything they want, we'll have peace.".

right.

that has a history of working out well.
i actually read a liberal media article that stupidly tried to compare the situation to versailles. that is wrong, and completely misunderstanding where we're at with this.

versailles is wrong.

the sudetenland is closer to the truth.

and trump is starting to look like neville chamberlain.
trump no doubt thinks he's going to order the iranians to step down and they're going to listen.

if they were rational, they would. they aren't. rather, it's going to probably look something more like a police operation. they may be able to get the united nations involved, and that may be helpful given the nature of the technology required. they may need to police the strait to stop them from mining it.

i'd like to see them just torpedo any naval vessels trying to enforce a toll, one by one.
i can already see that the iranians are planning to toll the strait. that's not going to happen, and will require a military response. you can pencil that in a few weeks from now.
don coyote didn't want a war, he wanted to bully the iranians into compliance, and it didn't work because they're irrational. so, he gave up.

he should have blown them up, but he's a pussy.

they will be blown up soon enough, when he's replaced by a president with a bigger pair of balls.
the liberal press is retarded. some of the things i've read today are just moronic, and i'm not going to bother, but this is exactly what i wanted to avoid. i did not want to see the press come to these absurd and false conclusions, as that does not help the forces of global freedom, which mostly live in the west.

no, the united states did not lose a war against iran. trump lost a war against himself. liberalism lost a struggle against authoritarianism, but it's a struggle it was set up to lose, and that the actors guiding the liberal side weren't truly fighting. the result is irrelevant in fact, but catastrophic in theory. it looks terrible on paper.

but trump doesn't actually care.

the reality is that it doesn't matter what the document says. the iranians aren't going to abide by it, and the americans probably won't either. trump doesn't actually give a fuck. trump was just bored. it was taking too long; his attention span isn't that long. the iranians weren't cooperating. it wasn't fun. the war sucked.

the document will never be implemented, never be ratified, never mean anything. it's nonsense to the core. it looks horrific, but it's ridiculous on it's face. journalists will scour the document for meaning and purpose, but there's no meaning, and the only purpose was to end the formal state of hostilities. it means nothing else.

the blockade was a good idea, but they didn't even try. they let food and medicine in and even let some oil out. a blockade is a siege, and it might have to go on for years before it succeeds.

but, now trump doesn't have to have the war any more, because it's not any fun.

instead, he can go on tv and say shit like this, and it doesn't matter what connection it has to reality. what matters is the branding: trump wins, america won, trump brought home a peace deal for the senate. he'll sell that to his irrelevant base, as a lame duck. it just doesn't matter.

what matters is the process that comes next, which is cleaning this mess up, and it's going to be painful and violent and destructive.

iran now has 60 days to completely withdraw hezbollah from lebanon, or it will face renewed american attacks.

or that's my reading of the document, anyways.
paragraph 1 of the mou should require the complete disarmament and withdrawal of hezbollah and all other iranian proxy forces from lebanon, who are not respecting the sovereignty of the lebanese state. if the iranians do not immediately remove their proxy forces from lebanon, they are not abiding by the agreement.

what else does the paragraph mean?

the only signatories are iran and the united states, and only iran has illegal proxies in lebanon.
the basic problem here is that the americans are giving a dishonest, lying terrorist death cult, who has repeatedly broken every agreement it's ever signed, the benefit of the doubt that they will negotiate in good faith, when all evidence demonstrates that that is absurd.

the agreement is not worth the paper it's signed on. the iranians will break it at the soonest opportunity.

but, trump is being driven by the mental illness of faith in a positive outcome. he wants peace and won't allow facts or evidence to alter his desires. he never does, which is his general problem - he's not empirical. he operates on magical thinking.

trump may end up signing something because he insists on imagining peace as a realistic outcome and won't allow evidence to disrupt his vision, but there is no possibility that this process is going to lead to any kind of substantive peace, and it is merely necessitating a vicious american response in the very near future, perhaps even by the next democrat in the oval office, who might have to go in there and chop some heads off to clean up this mess.

expect this process to lead to nothing other than iranian terrorist attacks, dead americans, more war and an eventual resolve for regime change in tehran in washington. and expect donald trump to be portrayed as a delusional, insane buffoon by historians.

we didn't get much rain here last night but the weather system knocked me out regardless. i got most of the way through my caesar and stopped to sleep and woke up to realize the power had gone out earlier in the night. i only have two chromebooks running right now and one of them has a battery, so it was a minimal annoyance, but i slept a lot longer than intended, regardless. it's reminded me to add a couple of upses to the list of studio and other computer station items.

i woke up and sorted through some purchases first and will get to finishing the caesar now.

- i have ten more containers of caulk and a container of quick drying cement coming from canadian tire
- i think i can use the quick drying cement as mortar without adding sand because it doesn't shrink (it seems to already have sand). it is probably technically a mortar, already. i hope i have enough.
- i bought a trowel with it on amazon because i don't have one
- i also bought some kitchen items: a glass replacement for my brita jug (which i leave out at room temperature, without a filter), some brushes for some of the glasses i bought that are designed for dishwashers and that i can't get my hands into because they're too skinny, a 150 watt herb grinder for extremely infrequent marijuana use (i like to keep it a substantive distance from the house and don't want to smell it where i live. i don't shit in my own food supply.), a handful of paper sized white board magnets for the fridge and these $25 usb c electric scrubbing devices for the floors, which i think need a good scrub. if they work once and break, that's fine, but i suspect i'll hang on to them.

there's going to be a charging table in the front entrance, which is going to be used less when i get the other door installed. i already have a 10 port usb A charging hub that has slowly filled up with devices. it's also going to need a usb c hub, because they aren't compatible. that wasn't supposed to happen. usb was supposed to be backwards compatible. but the money-grubbing shitheads at apple pushed that through and we're stuck with it.

as i'm trying to get the plastic out of here, and that's a major reason i'm considering buying a pop maker, i don't want to buy a pop maker with a plastic bottle. that limits my options to one model by sodastream, or a more expensive high end competitor that's out of my price range. my choices are the new duo sodastream or a used aquafizz. so i'll have to wait a bit.

it's not going to be clear where i can put a dishwasher in here until it's properly cleaned up, but i might actually want to put it in the laundry. there's more space in there, a table i can put it on and a water hook up near the laundry. that will likely have to wait a fair bit, as i'm probably going to have to pay n the $400+ range, and it's not likely to be a priority.

i've been sleeping mornings this week but i'm awake now. so, i'm going to finish that salad and then clean myself up a little and then get back to what i was doing, as i wait for things to come in. i could conceivably get some shelving installed by the end of the day.
google...

can you stop sending me to amazon.com and walmart.com and ebay.com instead of the .ca sites?

google.ca apparently no longer exists, forcing me to use google.com. i'm never going to buy anything from a us site instead of the .ca site, and they wouldn't ship here, anyways. this is stupid.

why did you get rid of google.ca? it makes shopping via google from canada almost impossible.
