but, how do you get through this presentation on uncertainty and not say a thing about geopolitics? which, specifically, means the war budget?
because that's what happened, right. clinton basically fixed the deficit. then some crazy people took down some buildings in manhatten, war spending went through the roof and the reagan cold war military budget catastrophe was duplicated by his protege, bush II.
now, you can talk about weak growth or the war economy or whatever else, but the basic problem that the state faced - the uncertainty it had to deal with - was it's inability to predict this war we've all been fighting for the last fifteen years.
it's astounding to me that this is completely ignored at all, let alone by what is supposed to be the left-wing establishment.
