it's not just the same party.

it's the same fucking people.

but, this is the last fucking time, too.
actually, the question of whether the goofs that stormed the capitol building had inside help or not is exceedingly legally important. think about it.

and, the fact that the media is picking up on it suggests we're going to be hearing a lot about this for quite a while, as it's used to tie up congress with nonsense.

if you want to understand this, read the pelosi-obama master thesis, how to waste a supermajority.
no, listen - and i went over this.

what bernie's messaging broadcast - clearly - was that he was more concerned about winning the votes of religious conservatives than almost anything else. and, what does that say about bernie?

you can be cynical, but at some point you have to ask the question, "what side are you on?". and, bernie clearly broadcast that he's on the side of religion, which struck him from my list of possible support candidates.

but, you have to support him on the budget committee, anyways. these chances are few and far between. it could be another 50 years. don't fuck this up.
there's truly an absurd amount riding on bernie this session. will we be disappointed?

what i'm going to say is this - no major legislator since lyndon johnson has been as likely to actually do something as bernie is. the system is vicious, and the chances of disappointment are not slim. but, despite my reservations about endorsing him in 2020 due to the unsavory tactics he was toying with (specifically, his outward and somewhat showy displays of coldness towards, and apparent outright fear of addressing, queer political concerns, quite clearly due to fear of it harming his ambitions to win minority voters, particularly - a red line, for me, and a blatant display that he simply didn't represent me or my concerns at that point), i can't think of anybody else over the last 50 years that i'd rather pin my hopes on to actually get something done. bernie is a deeply flawed character, and i actually think he'd make a bad president, because he's broadcast that he's happy to throw minority rights under the bus if he thinks they're unpopular. but, if he can't deliver something by running the budget, the country's permanently fucked.

certainly, a man of his experience and dedication to the political left (whatever i think of his shady tactics) is a better horse to bet on than a 25 year-old that's in her first term of congress.

and, he needs solidarity and a show of massive support. so, cut the bullshit and get behind him.

i went to a dsa meeting in hamtramck once, just as an observer (i'm a canadian.), and it felt like one of those mass interviews for a fast food restaurant. i was hoping it would be some kind of grassroots, direct democracy type affair and was rather shocked by what it actually was, namely an exceedingly hierarchical, top-down organization with no interest in democracy at all. they had absolutely no interest in anybody's opinion whatsoever, they were just looking for recruits to regurgitate the platform.

Aly Alexandra
Right?! That’s why I wanted to do this. The way they speak to their members disgusted me.

deathtokoalas
it was quite a while ago now, and i was camping out between an after hours gay dance party that went until 7:00 am and a punk rock bbq that started at noon, hamtramck being the party district in detroit, so i was a little less than 100% mentally, but the way i remembered it is that the way they explained it was essentially that the members and even the candidates are just opinionless shells and the dsa is the platform, which is written by an unelected clique that just intends to hire people to push it. so, it's like a fake band, almost - a composer that hires people to play the parts. you might think that joining the dsa means participating in a political movement and going to general assemblies and having a democratic process and whatnot, but the idea i got was that it's kind of more like getting a job, and the platform is essentially the training manual for that job. as such, i walked away from it feeling like it was a kind of a ponzi scheme.

the organizers at the meeting were abundantly clear on that particular point, though - the candidates don't have personal views. they don't analyze anything independently, and they're expected to suspend individual dissent, if it exists. they are merely creatures of the platform; the platform is supreme.

there's a review of my weekend in detroit, including a brief write-up of my experience at the dsa, at my deathtokoalas blog. find a "remove white space" site to construct the link:
if vandalism is to be conflated with terrorism, we've lost the struggle against terrorism.
something else that's coming out of the ransacking of the capitol (calling it an attempted coup is absurd. stop.) is this reinforcement of the relativization of terrorism on the fake left.

but, terrorism is not an opinion or a political description, it is a legal definition subject to existing common law precedent - none of which will be upheld in any legal proceedings on this matter, should they be attempted. these people will not be convicted of terrorism-related offences, and suggesting they ought to be is simple legal ignorance.

what these goofs did is called vandalism, not terrorism. and, they should be prosecuted for vandalism, yes.

but, labelling them terrorists is an insult to and a trivialization of the actual victims of actual terrorism, and should cease by all good faith actors, immediately.
so, this is the third run through which will add data for raspberries, which i expect closes the meal in terms of additions, and that the last remaining modifications will have to do with adjusting the amounts.

calories: 52*.45 = 23.4
total: 23.4 + 20.4 + 105 + 32 + 240 + 42 + 96 + 168 + 17.5 + 18.75 + 159.27 + 125 + 15.12 + 46.72 + 64.08 + 40 = 1213.24

i'll want to take that down a tad, potentially by increasing the wheat bran and decreasing the all bran.

cost:
the cost of raspberries fluctuates between $1.88-$2.99/170 g, so, taking a midpoint,

(1.88 + 2.99)*.5*45/170 = 0.64455882352---->$0.64

the cost has come up higher than i want, but i want to remain flexible as i know the other two meals will be less. i will optimize this on the next pass.

i wanted to do a separate post for optimizing, next, to try to get calorie & cost down, but i'm going to wait until i finish with both the minerals and amino acids first. note that i can actually go down to one avocado now, especially considering that most avocados are closer to 90 g than 75 g. that would instantly shave around 100 calories and roughly $0.50, enough to solve both problems. i'm not doing that yet because (1) i'd just end up throwing out rotten avocados for now and (2) i suspect i'll come in under $15.00 on the three combined, regardless. but, we'll see what this looks like in the end, and if i can cut the avocados down i will.

that means i should wait to tweak the raw wheat bran to all bran balance until i have all of the minerals in, too.

so, the next post will pick up on the first run and update data for all of the minerals.

disclaimer:
i've gone to town with a few things - i'm not making up vitamins but rather filling things in. i mean, there's all these "missing vitamin names". what were they, exactly? it also gives me an excuse to work in a few things like choline that are hard to otherwise define as they are essential in some amount but not technically vitamins.

note that these numbers are scavenged and should be interpreted approximately. that's partly why i'm aiming to overshoot on most of it.

diet options:

daily:

 2 ) pasta salad bowl:
- one tbsp of imitation bacon bits (isoflavones, maybe)
- olives?
- red clover (if locatable or foragable, for phytoestrogens)
- alfafa?
- rice bran is similar to sunflower in b5, but lower in omega-6 and lower in choline. also, less e. it would be better if i find myself strictly concerned about b5, but in the pasta bowl. this seems unlikely.
- dried whey is a little lower in both b5 & higher in choline, but also has a little b12 & has almost no fat. it's almost like the missing part of the yeast. i'm having trouble finding it though and don't think the isolate available at bulk barn is comparable. it seems to be largely seen as a waste product in yogurt production. it may be broadly useful across plates.
- broccoli?
- spinach for betaine

3) eggs:
- salami (45 g) (25% b1, 12% b3, 5% b5, 11.5% b6, 0% b9, 20% b12)
- rice (100 g) (60% b1, 35% b3, 4% b5, 6% b6, 69% b9)
- quinoa is perhaps better for betaine

remaining items to enter or investigate:

carotenoids (not including pro-vitamin a): <---maybe
1) lutein, 2) zeaxanthin, 3) lycopene, 4) phytofluene, 5) phytoene, 6) astaxanthin, 7) capsanthin, 8) canthaxanthin, 9) cryptoxanthin

chlorophyll:
1) chlorophyll a
2) chlorophyll b

other molecules required for proper metabolic functions:
5) ergothioneine  (cannot synthesize)
6) pqq - .2 mg, or 400 ng, but can't find good sources
7) queuine - no rdi determined. milk, whole wheat, tomatoes.
10) creatine? (avoidance? creatine increases muscle mass (which is bad.) but also improves brain function (which is good). careful.)
11) ribose
12) "nucleic acids"?
13) don't forget about heme
14) carnosine
15) allicin

glucose:
i'm more concerned about diabetes than weight gain, so...
the glycemic index is:
running total...

fiber:
i don't need many different types, i just need some. i'm not worrying about this.

& water

also, let's measure flavonoids:

anthocyanidins:
1) pelargonidin, 2) delphinidin, 3) cyanidin, 4) malvinidin, 5) peonidin, 6) petunidin, 7) rosinidin

flavonols:
1) isorhamnetin, 2) kaempferol , 3) myricetin, 4) quercetin  [rutin, troxerutin], 5) fisetin, 6) kaempferide

flavones:
1) luteolin, 2) apigenin, 3) techtochrysin, 4) baicalein (to avoid!), 5) norwogonin, 6) wogonin, 7) nobiletin

flavanones:
1) eriodictyol, 2) hesperetin, 3) naringenin, 4) hesperidin, 5) isosakuranetin, 6) pinocembrin, 7) sterubin

isoflavones:
1) daidzein, 2) genistein, 3) glycitein, 4) biochanin A, 5) formononetin

i should try to measure some further phytoestrogens:
1) matairesinol, 2) secoisolariciresinol, 3) pinoresinol, 4) lariciresinol, 5) coumestrol

& finally, let's also measure:
1) saponins, 2) ursolic acid (& precursors), 3) cafestol, 4) resveratrol, 5) ellagic acid, 6) coumarin, 7) tyrosol, 8) hydroxytyrosol, 9) oleocanthal, 10) oleuropein, 11) gingerol, 12) phytic acid
