while it is true that the conclusion may be that the greek contribution to ancient knowledge is exaggerated - and the egyptian and babylonian is understated - i think this is a silly pissing match that is missing the point: had the greeks not saved the knowledge in this way, however it is that it happened, and however it is that they found themselves in the position to do so, it would have been lost altogether.
so, when you read these ancient greek texts, you should keep that in mind - you're probably reading ideas that are in truth very, very ancient and are being presented to you in the form of the earliest bottleneck we have.
the true authors will never be known.
