wow. that usb card was $3.00 from a reseller in hong kong who isn't paying forty-three layers of white bourgeois parasites to distribute it to myself up in canada - with free shipping. no wonder the businesses are going under.
and they should go under. that's progress. fuck the capitalist distribution system, buy direct from asia...
i mean, what's more efficient:
a) the bourgeois computer store down the street randomly buys stock in an attempt to guess what people might want and is constantly under and over stocked as a result of not being clairvoyent, producing a much higher carbon footprint than is necessary. you, the customer, have to pay his mortgage for this "service".
b) i buy what i want when i want it at the same price that the bourgeois computer store does, don't have to pay his mortgage and reduce waste by only shipping over what's requested.
it'd be nice if we didn't have to buy everything from asia, but one thing at a time...
it's not like this is news, but the price differential has really become staggering and it's gotten to the point where it's hard to see how physical retailers can compete in any way other than the impulse factor of getting it right now.
i've said this before: this economy clinton set up where we create all these jobs selling things that are made elsewhere isn't sustainable. first the production jobs got sent out on purpose. next, the sales jobs are going to disappear as technology completely abolishes the need for humans to sit in stores and sell things.
as a socialist, it sounds like good news. but that's a lot of unemployed people, too, and it's going to require the exact opposite of the systemic adjustments that have been unfolding since clinton....
