so, i seem to have misunderstood a few things about my chromebook.

first, it's a combo mic/phone jack. so, i don't actually need a usb headphone; i could potentially even just get a splitter, if one exists, although the mic i've been using for a while now kind of sucks and i'd be better off upgrading it, anyways. i'm sure i can find a $5 splitter in the morning...

but, the thing actually has a mic and a webcam built into it, no doubt with this purpose in mind. i don't see anything in the settings that acknowledge the existence of a webcam, but will the chrome os pick the mic up right away, out of gmail? let me give this a shot.

i've been apprehensive about "logging in" to the device; i've just been using it as a guest. maybe i should log in to check these extra features...

i got the thing because i can't stand typing on a phone; in the end, i may use it as one, after all. good choice, jess.
