a couple of weeks ago, the weather forcecasters were trying to argue that el nino results in colder than average falls in eastern north america, by pointing out that the long term averages were 0.1 degrees lower in the last handful of el nino years.

0.1 degrees.

they've never taken a statistics course, clearly.

now, as the forecasts have firmed up and it's clear that eastern north america is going to have a warmer than normal fall, it's because of el nino.

this schrodinger's el nino is a complex phenomenon, indeed.
