the most successful tactic in reducing emissions is not going to be carbon trading schemes that just make criminals rich without affecting the environment, nor is it going to be putting in place "polluter pays" mechanisms that just raise prices by incorporating the fees into the cost of business. it's going to be actually building alternate infrastructure. on that point, this article fails to mention the infrastructure bank announced by the liberals, which has far more potential for real reductions than any carbon trading pyramid scheme scam.

the most important thing that we need to get through our heads to get out of the thatcher era and start moving forwards again is that market-based policies do not work. you cannot accomplish anything at all with tax cuts or by setting up trading schemes. we need direct action.
