in fact, the ndp's position on israel, and the canadin position in general, is entirely consistent with the position they are taking in regards to the cowichan ruling in bc - in both cases, the government of canada stands with the colonizing power (the arabs or the english) and denies the right of the indigenous groups in canada and israel to reclaim their ancestral land, which belongs to them. in israel, they are doing it by force because they can. in canada, they are using legal systems to reclaim their land peacefully, also because they can.

there's a reason for this common pro-colonial position across the spectrum in canada, and it is because canada is a colonial society and a colonial state, and is perhaps the last of it's kind. america has completely lost any connection to it's settler-colonial past.

the issue is different in europe, where the positions being taken are more explicitly anti-jewish than pro-palestine, and it comes out of centuries of scapegoating jews. europe is on the brink of a major war and a potential depression. of course, it's ze jews' fault. always. never fails.
