or, more likely, we're going to need to make sure we get rid of him in the next cycle, or face staggering spending cuts that ruin the province.

that has to be what the next election in ontario is about - tax increases v spending cuts. and, we have to make the right choice.

i'm generally an advocate of indigenous rights claims, but i have no solidarity with self-regulated industries at all, and this is one of the few examples where i'd fully support a total crackdown, should they decide to get uppity.

the protesters are not behaving very well, and should be prosecuted for their behaviour, but they are also drawing attention to an extremely valid point: this industry should be regulated, and i'd call on the tribes to pull their heads out of their asses and figure it out.

i mean, people talk about cars reverting back to a luxury item in these apocalyptic, terrible terms.

but, from a public health perspective, i actually think it's a good thing - normal people should bike or walk to work, and should spend their leisure time on foot, as well.
would i buy an electric car, at this point?

remember: i don't have a driver's license. i've never driven a vehicle before. that was a very purposeful decision i made at a young age, and i've never questioned it.

when i was young - under 25 - it was really very explicitly about the climate. cars are ruining the planet; therefore, i don't want a driver's license. even practicing in the parking lot made me sick to my stomach.

nowadays, it's actually more about my health - i'd rather walk or bicycle, because i'd rather get the exercise. electric vehicles may clear the air, and i'd encourage everybody else to get one, yes. but, they're still going to make people fat and lazy. that's a continuing problem with automobile culture that reducing emissions doesn't resolve.

so, i'm going to support the initiative, for altruistic reasons, absolutely - i've been calling on this for years, and i'm not going to walk away from it, now.

but, i still don't want anything to do with the automotive industry, in any way, at all. sorry.
i want to be clear that i'm not predicting a trump "win". not yet. i'm getting too many mixed messages.

but, i need to really call on the independent media - at least - to stop wondering about what happens if trump loses, and doesn't leave.

your concern - and it is real - is about what happens if you wake up on november 4th and are presented with a consolidated media that is trying to convince you that trump won in places that he obviously didn't actually win in, and was consequently re-elected, fair and square.
if you want your vote - for or against trump - to count this election, your best choice is to walk it in in person and put it in the box, yourself.

and, you don't really know, even then.
so, what are you going to do if you wake up to find out that trump won...i dunno...let's say, illinois?

well?

are you going to blame it on mail-in ballots? or are you going to retract from that position, because you've been taught it's wrong?
woahwoahwoah, let's understand trump's talk about rigged elections properly, here.

while the democrats will probably let a few dead people vote in specific counties that they control the machinery in (they always do), and arguing that "voter fraud doesn't happen" is basically the same thing as pointing out that they always get away with it (just because something doesn't show up in court records doesn't mean it isn't happening - ask victims of female genital mutilation, as one example), that really doesn't have anything to do with what trump is saying.

if you're taking trump seriously on this, you're essentially taking the bait; he doesn't take himself seriously, and he's not really concerned about what he's saying at all.

rather, what he's doing is deflecting away from his own tactics to steal the election. and, i'll again point you to greg palast as a primary source - he's a good one.

see, this is why i'm waiting to provide a media analysis. this is obvious; we've been through it enough times to see the warning signs. this is always step one - they tell you the other guy is cheating, before they go and cheat, themselves. it's almost standard, at this point.

but, instead of running serious stories about the possibility that trump is going to blatantly steal the election (a serious possibility with dramatic consequences - perhaps much more so than 2000), the media is running fluff stories about when happens when trump "refuses to leave", and then goes out and castigates anybody willing to challenge the results.

so, now, if trump wins, you won't challenge it, right?

so, it might seem like the media is out to get trump, but if you follow the narrative more closely, what you see is an establishment that is falling perfectly in line in conditioning you not to challenge the outcome - even as it seems to say mean things. you get your two minutes of hate, sure, but you don't really get a choice, in the end.

so, let's be very careful and very clear-thinking, here.

the results of an election, as presented by the state, are not beyond the discourse. there is nothing conspiratorial about dissent; do not be told not to question.
so, the amount of folate for the dri hasn't changed - it's still at 400 μg, with the caveat that folic acid has a higher bioavailability when fortified than it does within food. this is easy to understand, as your body would need to rip the folate out of the food via metabolic processes, whereas it can just absorb fortified vitamins.

the factors, flipped over, are:

1 μg of food folate = 1 μg dfe
1 μg of fortified folic acid = (10/6) μg dfe

and, what i'm aiming for is 400 μg dfe per meal.

the usda lists the numbers in dfe, so i shouldn't worry much about converting.

can i overdo it? well, the upper limit is based on what can mask a b12 deficiency, so, as long as i'm sure i'm getting enough b12, i shouldn't worry about that too much. but, it's set at 1600 μg dfe fortified. so, i'll want to keep track of how much fortified dfe is building up and try to stay away from that limit.

here's the data...

the next thing i need to do is figure out if pseudo-b10 has any value or not. i believe it has low availability outside of meat, but let's see.

disclaimer:
i've gone to town with a few things - i'm not making up vitamins but rather filling things in. i mean, there's all these "missing vitamin names". what were they, exactly? it also gives me an excuse to work in a few things like choline that are hard to otherwise define as they are essential in some amount but not technically vitamins.

note that these numbers are scavenged and should be interpreted approximately. that's partly why i'm aiming to overshoot on most of it.

- natura chocolate soy milk
- no specific brand or type of coffee

diet options:

daily:

1) fruit bowl

b5 supplements:
0) yes -  i could just add a little more soy milk. let me work that out, when i'm done.
1) egg concentrates or egg replacement powders should be high in b5 & high in choline but also high in omega-6s - but maybe not high in omega-6s, too. i may also get a dose of b12. some shopping is required. this is probably ideal. i don't want to cook an egg every morning and am not comfortable consuming them raw, but if i can find a tbsp of something to add, i might.
2) dried whey is a little lower in both b5 & choline, but also has a little b12 & has almost no fat. it's almost like the missing part of the yeast. i'm having trouble finding it though and don't think the isolate available at bulk barn is comparable. it seems to be largely seen as a waste product in yogurt production. it may be broadly useful across plates.
3) dried milk is something to look at, but it's hard to say what's actually in it without checking and, according to the usda, the whey beats it on the things i'm interested in right now - b5, choline. it's better for d & b12, but i think i'm ok for both.
4) a dash of instant tea is an interesting thought, as it could get me 10% of the b5 (about what i need) with almost no fat. plus, it has caffeine :). specific brands of hot chocolate may be useful, too. i wouldn't want to commit until i've seen a label.

 2 ) pasta salad bowl:
- 100 g cooked pasta ----> reduce
- one large red pepper
- one large chopped carrot
- 60 g chopped medium cheddar cheese [12 slices]
- 10 g hulled hemp seeds
- yogurt dressing or canola oil caesar dressing
- 1 tsp nutritional yeast
- glass of pasta water
+
- tomatoes
- flax seeds (ground!) (probably not)
- spirulina
- tahini
- macademia nuts
- croutons
- tomato powder
- caesar dressing (very little b1, 35% e?, some a)
- one tbsp of imitation bacon bits (isoflavones, maybe_
- 5 g chopped crickets [5 crickets]  [b12]
- indoor farmed fish? <----b5, b12
- shittake mushrooms <------b5
- lemon (probably for phytonutrients)
- garlic cloves (probably for phytonutrients)
- oregano & pepper (probably for phytonutrients)
- kalamata olives (probably not necessary for e)
- microwaved/chopped broccoli (probably not, due to k and I3C)  <----but, b5
- broccoli leaves or kale or dandelion leaves? (probably not, due to I3C and k)
- red clover (if locatable or foragable, for phytoestrogens)
- alfafa?
0) yogurt is high in b5 and b8.
5) sunflower seeds are high in b5 & high in e, with small amounts of choline but high amounts of omega-6. it doesn't really add up here, but may be better in the pasta bowl (after i work out the yogurt).
6) rice bran is similar to sunflower in b5, but lower in omega-6 and lower in choline. also, less e. it would be better if i find myself strictly concerned about b5, but in the pasta bowl. this seems unlikely.
7) dried whey is a little lower in both b5 & higher in choline, but also has a little b12 & has almost no fat. it's almost like the missing part of the yeast. i'm having trouble finding it though and don't think the isolate available at bulk barn is comparable. it seems to be largely seen as a waste product in yogurt production. it may be broadly useful across plates.

3) eggs:
- 2 jumbo fried eggs
- 1 slice of whole wheat bread (including the germ!) with flax
- 2 tbsp olive oil margarine
- 30 g sliced medium cheddar cheese [6 slices]
+
- salami (45 g) (25% b1, 8% b2, 12% b3, 5% b5, 11.5% b6, 0% b9, 20% b12)
- rice (100 g) (60% b1, 2% b2, 35% b3, 4% b5, 6% b6, 69% b9)
- soy meat (100% b1, 50-70% b2, 100% b3, 15% b5, 60% b6, 45% b9, 90% b12)
- indoor grown salmon? (50 g) (15% b1, 15% b2, 55% b3, 15% b5, 20% b6, 150% b12) <------can't find
- mushroom sauce (some supplemental b2,/b3/b6, substantive b5)
- + apple juice? (1 cup) (100% c)
- carrot juice (1 cup) (18% b1, 8% b2
- orange juice (1 cup) (15% b1, 4% b2, 5% b3, 5% b5, 5% b6, 19% b9, 207% c, added e?)
- grapefruit juice is high in inositol
- cranberry juice (unsweetened. need added c, has e)
- tomato juice (likewise)

- need (85 b1, 50 b2, 95 b3, 75 b5, 85 b6, 75 b9, 65 b12)

so, i'm going to go ahead and add the nectarine in, as it solves a few problems all at once.

data from:
1) usda: a, b1-b3, b5-b7
2) b4, b7: ? (doesn't matter)

a: 21.9 is the entry

(21.9 + 4.08 + 1.5 + 10.5 + 3)/900 = 0.04553333333 = 4.5%

that is a 2.5% bump.

b1: .044 is the entry.

then,

(.044 + .042 + .036 + 0.1 + .02025 + .0528 + .115)/1.2 = 0.34170833333 = 34%

that is a 3.5% boost.

b2: .035 is the entry.

(.035 + .099 + .033 + 0.195 + .01875 + .253 + .011)/1.3 = 0.49596153846 = 49.5%

that is a 2.5% boost.

b3: the entry is 1.45 mg

(1.45 + .904 + .579 + 2.61 + .25575 + .1276 + .216)/16 = 0.383896875 = 38%.

that's a nice 9% bump.

b4: no entry.

b5: the entry is .239 mg

(.239 + .454 + .1875 + 2.08 + .13725 + .6391 + .069)/5 = 0.76117 = 76%

so, that's a very key 5% boost.

b6: the entry is .032 mg

(.032 + .499 + .0705 + .386 + .04725 + .0528 + .033)/1.7 = 0.65914705882 = 66%

that is a 2% boost.

b7: no entry

b8: 1.18*129 = 152.22 mg

(152.22 + 19.5 + 69 + 102 + 20.07 + 9.9 + 14.85 + 2.75 + 13.65)/1000 = 0.40394 = 40%

with that, i'm back up over 110% with the b5, so i'm going to bring the 110% requirement back. it's what i wanted, i just couldn't make it work. it should also fix the rounding errors with the choline and give me some breathing room with the niacin. this isn't quite as deep as the avocado, but it's a solid add, all around.

the nectarines are really the only way to do this with bringing in acidic citrus fruits that will clash with the vanilla flavouring in the dish. the strawberries and kiwis have a tartness to them, but it's not like a grapefruit or an orange or a lime, which would just be unpleasant. and, i like citrus fruits - they're just better off in the pasta dish. when you remove these traditional citrus fruits, and discard the possibility of utilizing the unwieldy cantaloupe off-hand, nectarines are really the only thing left with enough to get me over 30%.

i like nectarines, too.

so, i'll assume i can find them around 129 g (which is what the usda lists them as) and i'll tweak it better after that.

so, that now completes the table for the fruit dish up to b8.

note that i've put rounded numbers underneath a ~ to tell me to look it up in the blog if i want a more exact number.

b9 should be done by sunrise, hopefully - it should be straight forward.

disclaimer:
i've gone to town with a few things - i'm not making up vitamins but rather filling things in. i mean, there's all these "missing vitamin names". what were they, exactly? it also gives me an excuse to work in a few things like choline that are hard to otherwise define as they are essential in some amount but not technically vitamins.

note that these numbers are scavenged and should be interpreted approximately. that's partly why i'm aiming to overshoot on most of it.

diet options:

- 100 g cooked pasta ----> reduce
