i don't doubt that canada needs a good, careful, well thought through response that should include keynesian spending (primarily), increases in investment, targeted tax cuts, export taxes, subsidies, retraining programs and, perhaps, extremely minimal tariffs.

what i've been hearing from mr. carney so far is not that. insisting on dollar-for-dollar tariffs is not rational, it's hot-headed and emotional and irrational. it's what trump wanted and got, either through collusion or manipulation. carney has let trump get into his head and throw him off.

it's passion over reason.
