so, i'm literally just going to reboot a few times and see what happens.

i should be able to compare what the drive looks like afterwards to what it looks like stored and go from there.

again - i'd rather be doing anything, but there's nothing else to do until i get the machine back up, or can potentially buy a new laptop.
