so, there was supposed to be a signing, but it didn't happen.
it seems like the media leaked - maybe from some party insiders - a little ahead of the gun. maybe part overly eager, and part manufacturing reality. but, in the end, it didn't work.
they can agree in principle all they want, what's important is what gets signed.
so, i guess that's a good thing, for now.
but, this government needs to avoid this like the plague. and, let the anzac countries have their own backlash to massive outsourcing to malaysian child labour - maybe they'll come back to us, one-on-one.
a free trade agreement with japan - even if it ends up as auto parts for beef - would be fine with me. it would probably just bring the japanese manufacturers more thoroughly over the border, from detroit. they're not going to make parts in japan and ship them here; what we want to stop them from doing is making parts in malaysia and shipping them here.
