that car

hi.

i acknowledge my memory is sketchy, but i have a memory of a car being given to me several years ago, i think as a birthday present. 2008-2009ish, i think. i was told that i could get the car if i got a license. i responded by saying that i didn't want a car (and i still don't...), and i'd rather see the money put towards paying down my debt. nothing further was ever spoken of it. i think it was blue; i don't even know the names of current car manufacturers.

it's many years later, and my debt is pushing $70,000. now, the blunt reality is that i should have never qualified for a loan in the first place. there's a student loan bubble building that is going to crash the economy, and the end result is going to have to be stricter lending practices. the idea that just anybody can take an interest-bearing loan of that size out is preposterous.

my father always promised to me that he was going to pay some of it down, and the reality is that the bulk of it is the result of going back to school - which i initially only agreed to on the condition that it wouldn't affect my loan, and which was reneged upon at the last minute.

had i taken that money at the time that was wasted on a stupid car and put it down, the debt wouldn't be growing out of control.

now, the chances of me paying this debt are zero. it's just going to keep growing, and there's nothing the state can do about it because my income is roughly half of the poverty line. my monthly minimum payment is twice my monthly income. it's an impossibility, and there's no use in pretending otherwise.

that said, they're threatening to hold a lien on my tax return if i don't address it, somehow. i think i can probably fight this, but then i'll have to go through the process again every year, while the interest spirals out of control. it's really just a stupid situation.

so, whatever happened to the car? and, is there any way i can gain access to it, in order to cut the debt down a little?

in fact, the israeli intent right now is genocide. netanyahu has recently admitted that israel is no longer interested in a multi-state solution, and the talks have no end point. palestinians have two choices: leave or die. and, not only the americans - but also the egyptians and the saudis - are entirely supportive of this policy.

chomsky was right to ignore him as a clown. on one hand, he needed to be taken down. on another....at some point, you're just giving a platform to a discredited imbecile that doesn't deserve one.

i was expecting some comments to respond to; i guess i'll have to start it off.

i'm a cultural relativist; i am not a moral relativist, because i am a moral nihilist. but, this does not fall under the category of cultural relativism because it is objectively wrong. cultural relativism refers to issues that are not clearly right or wrong, but take on different meanings in different contexts. it does not refer to things that are disproven, debunked or clearly absurd. let's look at some examples.

examples of cultural relativism:
- snakes and insects (or cows or pigs, or cats and dogs, as it may be) are disgusting and should not be eaten.
- god is a specific gender.
- the punishment for a crime should be whatever.
- circumcision.

examples of things that are wrong:
- creationism.
- caste systems.
- homosexuality is unnatural.
- patriarchy is natural.
- humans cause volcanoes by angering the volcano gods.
