i think there were a lot of stupid things said about donald trump after 2016. particularly, i'm referring to the idea that trump is some kind of a scary dictator. you can say a lot of mean things about trump that are true, but it's rather objectively clear that he's not particularly authoritarian. trump is less authoritarian than most republicans and less likely to pass arcane laws trying to tell you what to do, but the problem lies in his broad level of disinterest in civil rights one way or another. trump might not care what you do or don't do, but he'll quickly negotiate civil rights for a financial interest. it was the supreme court that banned abortion at the state level, and even that required a negotiated trade from donald trump.

this is different than a bush-cheney type affair and more like the cluelessness of reagan. reagan was scary because he was stupid, not because he was evil. in fact, biden is the insider with the cia connections and the deep state roots. trump is certainly concerning, but he's concerning in his disinterest rather than his desire to control. he likely couldn't figure out how to hurt you if he wanted to. i'm not afraid of donald trump the way i was afraid of bush.

i would rather they run somebody else because i think biden is a catastrophe that needs to be removed from office and trump is no solution to that problem. i did not endorse a candidate in 2020 and will not endorse a candidate in a rematch. however, while i don't like any of these candidates, i might endorse haley to get rid of biden. i am a sickle-waving, card-carrying communist, i'm not a conservative or a republican, but i realize how scary biden is and would want to vote against him any responsible way i could. they all suck, but haley is a better choice than biden and a better choice than harris.

moderate republicans have a chance to take control, here, and they should.
nikki haley actually now has a serious path to the republican nomination.
