yemen is a backwater and the houthis are hopeless barbarians. they'll fight with whoever their neighbours are for the foreseeable future.

the situation with hezbollah in lebanon is more newsworthy.

that said, southern yemen would also be a strategic place for us central command to put a naval base, across from where the chinese are setting up. it may be beneficial to just wipe them out and set up.
the fake left's insistence on supporting these barbarian houthi groups is an example of the worst kind of performative posteuring. it's just an excuse to criticize the saudis, and while the saudis deserve criticism, this is more or less the worst possible way to criticize them; of all the horrible things the saudis are doing every day, their bombing campaign of a legitimate terrorist group ought to be of least concern.

the reality is that the framing here is inaccurate. the americans are not launching strikes against some kind of rebel groups, they're retaliating to protect their shipping interests and are probably taking out literal iranian weapons sites. it is inconceivable that the united states could look the other way and ignore it's commercial interests getting bombed.

the reality is that the people that live in this region have a very long history of attacking trade interests, going back into antiquity. these are literal barbarians, and they've been bombing caravans for centuries.
