i have music files and text documents dated all the way back to 1995 on storage discs.

it may take some effort, but i will get around to finding it, just probably not this week. i will search the physical media i have in front of me as best as i can and move on.

while i'm at it, i'm going to need to search through my years worth of school notes for as many outlines and syllabi as i can find. those will contain information about remaining missing texts (including online txts), but what i really want is that books.html file from c. september 2002, if i can find it.
i have this updated but i want to find a list dated to early 2002 before i sold a lot of stuff:

i have a url but i can't load it in the wayback machine:
i am going to start with my review list after all and it will merge into the library catalog over time.

i will mirror this locally in my own notes but for now it's here:
ok, i've found lots of old lists and will get some updates up soon. my utter nerdiness will soon be that much more apparent.
i'm also going to do this:
i just want to note that i'm aware that emi is no longer a standalone major and was split up by the other big labels. however, this is of virtually no relevance to me because emi hasn't released anything new that i'd actually buy in decades. if i find myself with an emi-universal cd i'll take note of it, but that probably won't actually happen. in terms of my physical music collection, emi will likely continue to exist as a top tier category, with it's big sublabels of virgin and capitol.
i posted an update late on sunday night indicating i would need to eat, then clean in the front, reorganize in the middle and get back to building the insulation. how did i do?

i did eat early on monday morning and i was finished eating by the end of the day, but it made me extremely sick and i had to sleep it off. the flip side is my weight came down much faster than last week. it took almost a week to lose a pound last week. this week, it's barely 48 hours later, and i'm already back in the 148 range. i will probably eat again on wednesday. however, it's because i spent much of monday experiencing brutal diarrhea. it went in one hole and right out the other.

i woke up, spent some time in the bathroom cleaning myself and decided to add a step to the cleaning process in the front of the space, about cataloging the media shelving i had just built. i'm deciding that cleaning the space includes a media cataloging step, as i have historically normally kept clear records of media lists, and i'm cognizant that i need to rebuild both archives to fill in a number of holes. i maintain impressive book and cd libraries that have been in boxes for too long, but it's now more due to rarity than breadth. i have some very obscure cds and some very out of print books. that's not a bad thing, exactly, but i have historically taken pride in breadth, as well. i went to university for 13 years, studied almost everything and have three degrees from it. my musical tastes are extremely broad. so, i need to rebuild that, and i can right now, so i will. further, i have old lists of both libraries that i can use to get me back to where i was previously, in terms of repurchasing items i sold, lost, had damaged or were stolen from me.

i indicated in a post a few weeks ago that i was going to be building my listening room soon, which includes setting up the raspberry pi. once i have that set up, i'll be moving to the listening project i mentioned, as i do a number of things (mostly exercising). there is a place set aside beside the couch to set my stationary back up. the pi will also be used to catalog the cds when it's set up, while the typing pc will be used for the writing processes. i have these things carefully segregated for a reason.

i have only been using three of the many devices i have in here since i moved in

- a chromebook for email, blogging, vlogging and other general use in my bedroom. this is connected to my two main accounts and currently to the music device account as well.
- a temporary windows 7 laptop with word on my desk
- another chromebook in the kitchen, connected to the koala oversight committee youtube watch account, which will need to be redesigned so that it stops crashing (i think it's ram and i can fix it. that's the best choice.) and connected to the serious blog for youtube commentary and other typing when i'm eating, as well as the diet blog, and be able to make grocery purchases.

the pi will be device number four and will take over the responsibility for some of what i have open on this bedroom chromebook as well as anything else to do with music commentary. there will be a third chromebook in use in the studio as device #5, strictly for bandcamp and other music uploads, as well as the music journal. if i go with the mini pc for the zoom device, as it is looking like i will, i will probably also use it for general video editing and vlogging. i'm wondering if i shouldn't just fix the broken hp laptop and put linux on it, then. that will be device number six.

so, i decided to stop and organize the various profiles connected to the site in the process of rebuilding the media lists. before i move on, i will want to:

1) isolate a subset of the lists on the side bar that are set up for use on machines that are installed (the two chromebooks and the pi) and make a plan for designing devices to use the other profiles with.
2) finish cataloging cds and books, as i finish organizing them on the shelf
3) plug holes left in the collection

i started this off by rebuilding my music media list, which is now here:

note that some of the labels are clickable, but i'm avoiding making lists for major labels unless the catalog numbers are clearly linear-chronological. the catalog numbers for emi and universal are often all over the place and don't generate any kind of narrative, the way the numbers for smaller labels do. the numbers for warner are a bit more manageable, and i'm figuring it out. i may have some sublists for universal, but the emi/virgin releases are not coherently organizable in this sense.

the label list is here:

that list will update as i listen to cds in the boxes and put them on the shelf. the process will be that i'll take the items from the bottom list and move them to the top. anything left in the bottom list will need to be immediately repurchased. i'll also try to find other old cd lists to make sure any holes get plugged. i can order things on ebay and should just do it all at once. the missing items are mostly major label items, which isn't an accident; when i needed to sell cds, i sold easy to re find cds by popular bands like nine inch nails or radiohead and not obscure independently released cds. i have repurchased things in spurts but i know i'm missing piles of popular 90s cds. it shouldn't be hard to do a big roundup on ebay or discogs for relatively cheap. the next cd to listen to is autechre's ep7, when i get something to eat overnight or in the morning.

tonight, i will be getting a start on building a similar catalog for my books that will be organized by loc and doing a similar round up of missing, damaged or stolen items. i thought i had a book list uploaded but i guess i don't. i have a book review list but that's not what i want. the list for the book catalog or library index will be posted once i locate on old book list to upload to use as a base list.

it's now wednesday morning. my next check should clear on friday or saturday, and another will clear midweek.
