this is ridiculously farcical, but it's the same magical thinking defining the iran file.

there's a type of thinking popular in the business world that speciously cites quantum mechanics to argue that empirical reality does not exist, but is merely a projection of one's thoughts and desires. it follows from this anti-intellectual brand of pseudo-science that we can shape the world around us with the power of positive thinking. you hear this kind of silliness at hyper capitalist yoga businesses and upper class apple corporation symposiums.

that's what's going on here.

it doesn't matter how absurd it is.

fiction books should always be cataloged by author. this category of "pz3", which i'm seeing show up, and which is intended to catalog by age range, should simply not exist. the determination as to what age range a book is intended for is a purely subjective opinion and not the basis to categorize something in a library. further, books can be and are often read by people in differing age ranges. it just doesn't make sense.
