if i'm going to pay for a couch in any context, i'm going to be particular enough to make sure i can lie flat on it, which means i need 70" worth of cushions, given that i'm a hair under 70" tall. but i also need the structure to be well under 80", preferably closer to 75". i'm looking for very thin arm rests, which is difficult to find for cheap.

so, i think i want a more expensive couch and i'm better off buying it second hand for cheap and then paying for somebody to move it than i am buying a less expensive couch new.
i'm utterly confused by the idea of a "mid-century sofa" being "modern".

i would not consider anything mid-20th century to be "modern". i tend to refer to the 20th century using terms like "the previous century", with the context that the previous century existed before the modern time period. we can start in the 1990s, i guess. but, certainly, the middle of the twentieth century, which was 1925-1975, would be considered the distant past and not remotely modern by any discernible standards.

further, this is a time period where the culture was utterly shit. it was a low point in science, a low point in politics and a low point in art, coming out of the high point of the progressive era and entering into the high point of the 70s-90s. i certainly don't want to buy a 1960s fashioned sofa. yuck. who would?

so, i don't get this. i don't see modern anything. i see something badly dated.
it turns out i'm 177 cm and not 175 cm, which is about 5" 10" (a hair less). that means that my bmi is actually under 24 at 75 kg, after all. i'm getting a little bit over specific. i still want it under 22, which happens at 69.0 kg, which is not my next target but the one after. i'm really already there; at 70.70, which was my last weight, i was at 22.6. at 70.0, which would be more than what i'm weighing myself for my next meal, it would be 22.3. so, i'm going to shift to lbs and slow it down a little.

70.70 kg, which is where i was before i ate last, is 156 lbs. i'm going to wait until i get to 155 lbs before i eat next, then 154, 153, etc and push it down to 140 lbs (63.5 kg) and 130 (59 kg) before i stop and then let it rebound a little to between 140 and 150 (68). i did think i was too thin a few years ago and don't want to end up back there.

at 63 kg, my bmi is 20; at 69 kg, my bmi is 22. that sounds like the right range, to me. at 59 kg, my bmi would be 18.8, which is where i was a few years ago and back to being too skinny.
i very nearly bought a couch yesterday but it was way too big in the end. i may have another one coming in today or tomorrow.

what i'm struggling with today is the fact that it's going to cost $200 to deliver a $150 couch, so if i'm paying almost $400 anyways, can i buy a new one on sale instead?

this is one of the last things from the previous apartment that i'm still correcting for. they stole my couch and gave me some cash in the end, but i haven't replaced it yet. it shouldn't be too much longer.
