trudeau does not appear to have been being disingenuous when he argued that laws against marijuana were not effective in reducing use, and that "controlling and restricting" the supply was a better idea to socially engineer reduced usage.
but, yolo. right?
his position is consistent, and he'd be wise to hold to it, to contrast his party against the ndp, and increasingly the greens. while the issue is a health issue primarily, it is unconscionable to support decriminalizing the sale of substances that permanently addict people for life on first use.
if you really, seriously support decriminalization, you should vote for the libertarian party. i have always been and will remain in support of more subtle approaches to the issue as a health crises that maintain serious penalties for suppliers of these toxic substances, which have no valid use in any context.
