message sent to bill gates (over facebook)

hi bill. can i call you bill? i don't know how much attention you've been paying to politics back home in america, but there's recently been a lot of changes to finance contribution laws. with the aid of a number of supreme court rulings, the political process has been reduced to a game between the wealthy. i guess that's the short version. let's keep this short. of course, everybody is thinking that the beneficiaries of these changes are inevitably going to be on the far right of the political spectrum. there's a lot of demonization of the john birch society trust fund kid koch brothers attached to this general fear of a society that's being built on principles espoused by ayn rand. no doubt, there's a lot of truth in these fears, but there's also a silver lining to them. there's no reason to think that progressive forces couldn't band together and use this precise tactic of buying influence to build a more equitable society, or at least to combat the forces that are currently at play. i'm not looking for a contribution to an organization, or requesting that you set up a trust fund or something. i know you have certain initiatives you focus on. i'm just pointing out that, fear mongering aside, one thing is now absolutely apparent: somebody has to take these guys on before they ruin not just the continent but the planet, and that somebody needs to have a lot of spending money.
