i was really looking to keep it under $50. i'm not joking. but, the circumstances are a little different because i'm being sent such a sum....

i'm not buying anything with 512 mb of ram. it's 2017. the pc i bought in 1998 had 512 mb of ram. i think, anyways. that's just laughable.

i need to research how much ram a phone really needs to run video in a stable manner. but, given what i know about running youtube over html5, i'm going to guess around 2 gb should be about right.

another question: can i get something cheaper, buy ram separately and upgrade?
