and, what about these extra minerals and vitamins  i haven't tested for?

i seem to have done everything i can test for except a general amino acid test, vitamin c and iodine, and if there's anything i'm sure i'm getting enough of, it's vitamin c...

as far as i can tell, they don't even offer tests for things like manganese and molybdenum. so, we could all be suffering from overwhelming molybdenum deficiency and wouldn't even know it. fuck.

what's left is:
- vitamin b1
- vitamin b2
- vitamin b3
- vitamin b5
- vitamin b6
- vitamin b7
- vitamin e
- vitamin k

- selenium
- molybdenum
- manganese
- nickel
- chromium

my doctor gave me shit for looking at "obscure" issues, but the reality is that a number of these things interact with iron absorption: riboflavin, niacin, selenium, molybdenum, manganese and vitamin k all play a role in iron absorption and metabolism. but, the thing i really wanted to test for first was k, and i'm kind of pissed off that the test is $200 and not covered. this test should absolutely be covered.

i can test for it indirectly with platelets, and my platelets seem to be fine. and, it seems like a three-part test for fibrinogen, prothombin time & partial thromboplastin time is covered - and this is actually the more standard approach. great.

am i concerned about k? well, my k ought to be fine....unless i have a colon absorption problem. which is what i was trying to fucking figure out. i can also test for an antibody for crohn's and i might as well.

i can also test indirectly for selenium by doing a glutathione test, which is covered.

so, i'm going to try to get a ten minute with him before my next real appointment, and for him to fax a sheet with this stuff on it, so we can look it over.

and, i should get a & copper results then, too.
