again - while i would rather it didn't happen, trump has essentially left congress no choice but to impeach him.
this is a political loser, for the democrats. it distracts from policy issues, it distracts from the debates, it distracts from the primary and it makes them look small-minded and petty, all around.
but, they have to do it anyways.
i'll argue that it was obvious that this was a political loser, and the people arguing for it were either idiots (if they thought it would legitimately hurt trump) or actually trying to distract from governing (that is a more likely reason behind pelosi supporting it, imo - it means she doesn't have to be house leader in a substantive sense for a few months). but, if there was some thinking that the democrats would benefit from this, i hope that the data dispels with that ridiculous notion rather swiftly. it's hurting them. already. and badly.
so, please, house leadership - just get this through as quickly as you can before it sinks you in the general, unless that's what you actually want? well, if you're 55-65, and you want to run next time, you don't completely want to see a democrat win this cycle, do you?
and, please, stop listening to the idiots that talked you into doing this as a pr stunt.
again: they have to do it. but, it's a dry legal formality with little actual consequence that is going to give trump a lifeline when he doesn't deserve one, and they should push it through as fast as they can.
