canada's longterm interests are best realized by expanding ties with a country that probably has more in common with canada than any other country in the world, has been there for centuries and isn't going anywhere any time soon. i thought the russians were in trouble around 2014, but they surprised me.
the russians are not our enemies, and do not want to be our enemies. it's time we stopped pretending they are, and started focusing more on containing countries with truly alien, hostile, incompatible cultures - like the saudis.
aimlessly flailing against moscow is simply not acting in our self-interest, and never was.
