he was the only idiot in the whole world that took globalization and free trade seriously (his father may have put nafta in motion, but he saw the disaster coming once mulroney took control of it). he seems to have honestly believed in the idea that "free trade" would make everybody stronger. and, then the pandemic hits and canada has no vaccine capabilities, and nobody willing to sell it to him...
he's taking what was a predictable systemic failure point that every analyst saw coming decades ago as a personal insult, and turning inwards.
he's pouting.
so, now we have to hate americans because trudeau's feelings are hurt because nobody wanted to sell him vaccines.
and, we're not even taking steps to increase the domestic production capabilities.
we need to get this child out of power. but, until then, i'd join the chorus calling for the americans to open unilaterally.
