if you're looking for it, you can see what i'm saying about trudeau's attempt to appeal to the right underlying much of his policy decision and media networking.
consider the pipelines, for example. polls persistently show that a vast majority of liberal voters oppose the pipelines. you'd think that the government would realize the need to be careful about it's promotion of this, given how unpopular it is within it's voting base. but, the government's response has actually been to present the pipeline approvals as evidence that they succeeded where the conservatives failed. the messaging is all about appealing to conservative voters, in an attempt to convince them that the liberal party better represents their interests - because that is the voting base that they want to control.
again: to call this stupid is an understatement. but, who are we calling stupid, when we voted for them?
from supporting carbon taxes (which harper initially supported...) to his promotion of second-wave feminism (which the conservatives have tried to preach, but have had problems with) to the restrictions on assisted dying (widely panned on the left) to countless other positions, you can see this priority underscore pretty much everything they've done to this point.
it's what they're doing. and we need to understand that and react to it.
