i guess transcanada was upset at being told how to lobby.

they're used to telling the government how to operate.

this is how government works, kids. not much of a story.

yeah I guess. But it would have been nice if he'd waited till they actually WERE the government first! LOL

well, he can always pull the project and award it to somebody else, right? bwahahahaha. keep me away from power, i've got a nasty streak. but, i truly wouldn't be expecting many favours after this if i were transcanada. but, hey - if anybody wasn't sure about who the oil industry's guy was, it should be clear now.

i'd say that if you're smart, you might want to unload some soon to be worthless stocks.

It actually is a story of basic prepping for influence peddling. And the liberal campaign co chair Gagne was an associate of Bruce Carson. Who happens to be in court for, you guessed it, influence peddling...

i'm sorry - what did you expect? should they fill out a form, and have it approved by a central committee, first?

surely, you don't think they shouldn't talk at all?

it's a big company. there'd be something wrong if they *weren't* talking. i'm sure they're talking to executives in a wide array of industry, as well. i would hope they are, anyways. it would be a little offsetting if they weren't.

i just don't understand how you're conceptualizing what capitalism is. the whole point is the confluence between business and government: the revolving door, the lobbying. it's what a capitalist government is. if you take that away, you negate the purpose of the state in the capitalist model. we'd be left with what right-wingers call "anarchism".

it's not different than what harper does, and it wouldn't be different from what mulcair would be.

so, how do you imagine that government and industry communicate with each other in existing capitalism if not in the way suggested in the article?
