stop.
my opposition is to judeo-muslim (christians are actually a little better, here) concepts of retributive justice, and the opposition is foundational and deep. i will never side with any political movement calling for increasing punishment of anybody.
i wrote an essay about this a while ago:

...but it's actually a constant thread through the site, even if i get a little angry from time to time.
so, in a situation where a cop by all apparent means accidentally kills an unarmed civilian due to his own overwhelming stupidity, what is justice? is it enacting as much retribution on the individual as possible? is it punishing everybody in sight at the highest degree possible?
i must adamantly dissent - no! this is not justice! this is merely a continuation of the cycle of violence. it is barbarism, not justice.
justice is reforming the system so that stupid people are no longer taught stupid things at cop school, and then let loose on the general population to be idiotic thugs with guns. that's justice.
and, that's the movement i'd support, if it was out there.
you people calling for blood and retribution and punishment and think that that's "justice" can do so without me.
