blanchet is right - there's a conflict of interest at play here, and it should have prevented the individual from being appointed to cabinet. it should have prevented him from being nominated, really.

what if the conservatives appointed the former leader of the canadian jewish congress, or a leader of the proud boys to cabinet? 

we have a very strange double standard with muslims because we bizarrely view them as "oppressed", despite the fact that they're the most wealthy people on the planet. well, it's not some accident - they construct propaganda to push the point, as it comes out of their religious texts. the generation of sympathy to advance political goals is actually a tactic delineated in the koran, or some book associated with the koran, alongside jihad and various other things.
