putting aside the fantastical arguments by foucault, which aren't worth dissecting other than to assert that mental illness is a real thing, i just don't understand why liberals are so blind to the realities of mental illness and why they hold so hard to these false ideals of inherent rationality. the sun may have ulterior motives, but i don't have an issue with the factual basis of the headline.

asylums are a good idea - it's society taking initiative of the issue of mental illness and constructing the necessary infrastructure to deal with the problem. and it is a problem, whether you choose to remain blind to it or not. anarchists should be rejecting the idea that the responsibility for care should be atomized to individual families, not spouting liberal nonsense.

a quick google search demonstrates that he's misapplying foucault, anyways. foucault's argument was that "madness" is a social construct, distinct from mental illnesses like schizophrenia.
