so, yeah. this was painful, and i'm not going to be doing it further for the near future. if it was just as easy as jotting down a few notes, but it always turns into a research essay...

see, i've got this ridiculous genealogy built that goes back thousands of years and turns into an anthropology site and then an evolutionary tree. i need to source it more carefully. there was a time when i thought demonstrating the continued existence of class by construction was a worthwhile pursuit. at this point, i think it's too obvious to really require it.

i still find it interesting. i'm not stopping this permanently. but i don't find it pressing. i want to get through the books on my shelf before i lose myself in this for the hundredth time.

i thought this would be quick. it wasn't, and i'm fully repulsed by it for right now.

so, that's what sorting through this old primacy source of the norman invasion of southern italy was about. it's about a 75/25 bullshit/history ratio. so, i kept getting distracted by....anything else. i would have been better with a secondary source, but i'm a pretentious ass.

i'll be back "on schedule" in a day or two.

this is the genealogical root, that splits into wisharts and italo-normans.
