so, let's repost a couple of things to make them more clear.

1) why do i oppose mask laws?

the answer is that the science simply doesn't uphold them. the science suggests that they're minimally effective, and probably make things worse most of the time, outside of clinical settings. jurisdictions that have mandated mask use with a "business as otherwise usual" approach have seen resurgences. they have their place in medical settings, and other scenarios (such as food preparation) where enhanced levels of cleanliness are necessary. but, there is simply no science at all that upholds the idea that forcing people to wear cloth masks when they go out will make the slightest difference at all - and quite a bit of evidence to the contrary.

2) what do i advocate as the correct public policy?

mask use should be voluntary, and health officials should be upfront and honest about their minimal efficacy, in order to prevent complacency. what happened was that the public health officials caved into political pressure; they need to admit they were wrong, and step back from that. the unfolding evidence is fairly clear that complacency around mask use has created more problems than it's solved.

3) who do i refuse to wear a mask?

i actually want to catch the virus, and i'm not sure if i have yet. i don't want to wait for a vaccine that i probably won't take. i want natural immunity, and i want it now.

i suspect i probably already got it, but i won't know until i get an antibody test.

i hope that clarifies the point, for the record.
