i don't like mark carney very much. i don't like how he talks, his rhetoric, his turns of phrase. he really leaves me with cold with his mannerisms. i wouldn't want to have a beer with this guy.
let me tell you what i like about what he said.
- he indicated that the counter-tariffs won't target food but will rather be focused on industrial equipment.
- he seems to realize that the solution to this attack - he suggested we're at war - is keynesian spending and has identified houses and electricity grids as things to fund. he didn't talk about military spending. i hope the next thing on the list is climate change mitigation, from sea walls to water bombers.
i can't tell you if he made the right choice. i haven't seen the details. but my concern is how this stupid competitive behaviour affects low income canadians, and i don't hear any red flags.
i will tentatively withdraw my demand for a non-confidence vote, pending clarification on what's actually about to get taxed.
