i apologize for the orthogenetic proposal. my aristotlianism is clearly sardonic. i actually believe that evolution is mostly driven by chaos and chance, and natural selection is real but not common. genetic drift is a more frequent cause of evolutionary change than natural selection, which should be assumed to not exist, a priori, and only be derived via hypothesis testing. genetic drift must be rejected to conclude natural selection. that is, if you want this to be science.
