first frost events in southern ontario usually happen around oct 15th and one should have happened by now, but it hasn't. there were a few lows around 5 degrees but that isn't there yet.

the forecasts for the next 10-15 days have lows around 10 degrees, which is closer to a historical high than a historical low.

something i'm hearing and seeing from denialists is a denial of the idea that climate feedbacks are going to end winter. it would depend on where you live, but that is in fact a projected outcome of long term climate change over the next several decades. do not listen to denialists refusing to accept the models. you might not live long enough to see it, but winter is on it's way to an end in southern ontario, certainly. the absence of a polar vortex, in the long run, will be a tipping point into a winterless climate in this region, but it's not imminent.

for now, i'll keep an eye on those frost dates.

if we can get to december without a frost, that is pretty exceptional. it's not currently in the long range.
