this specific animal was probably a dog with some coywolf admixture, rather than a coyote, exactly. a coyote wouldn't do this, it would be afraid of you. it demonstrates the rampant gene flow and rapid hybridization going on. these animals are neither dogs nor wolves nor coyotes but a combination of all three. foxes cannot breed with other canids nearly as regularly.
