the idea of forcing vandals to pay for the mess they created is not new and not regressive. a polluter pays principle, applied to rioters, is actually quite progressive and enlightened. that's not characteristic of the sitting french government, but this is a forward-thinking policy that should be adopted by more jurisdictions, as technology brings us closer to communism, and this kind of thing has no political purpose, but is just primitive barbarism by vandals, thieves and backwards-thinking reactionary type people.
