if the saudis cannot beat a pitiful, barbarian force of houthis with less advanced weapons, more advanced technology will not do them any good. they need proper training, not more technology. giving them more advanced weapons just increases the level of liability that propping up this fake country generates.
it may be in the interests of the west to let riyadh fall and focus on cleaning up the mess afterwards, instead. that would eliminate a dangerous and unstable state from the region, and negate the potential consequences of a saudi collapse, which are substantial.
stated differently, a saudi collapse should be seen as inevitable. you can only rule with fear, oppression, slavery and violence for so long; it's a matter of if and not when. the direction of policy should be to generate an orderly collapse that can be reorganized into a modern society, not continue to prop up a despotic theocracy that wants to bring back the dark ages as it's founding, guiding principle.
so long as the anachronistic saudi hierarchy remains in place, it will continue to pose a grave threat of destabilizing the region.
