i don't expect much to really come out of the maduro kidnapping, on the ground in venezuela. the americans will probably get away with that, although if i was pam bondi i'd get out of the country when the democrats eventually take over the presidency.
but unnecessarily invading greenland is on the level of invading grenada, or the faulkland islands. it's the kind of subtle self-inflicted mistake that takes a while to become apparent; less a shot in the foot and more stepping in a pile of slow-moving, flesh-eating toenail fungus. but it's likely to be catastrophic, in the end.
they should do this the easy way, which means getting permission to station large amounts of troops there and occupy it until further notice. they don't have to invade when they can get permission, and they can.
