i'm a hemingway fan, but it was something i did almost entirely in high school - for whom the bell tolls in grade 10 and old man and the sea in grade 12. they're both great books and i enjoyed them both quite a bit, while i found myself bored with the cancan, with much of the nineteenth century literature (i would have been very bored during the 1800s. i'd have probably completely rejected the society and instead sought out an old raft and tried to live on a river with a guitar with five strings, and called anybody demanding i restring bourgeois.) and also with some of the shakespeare.

my opinion was not popular in my classes, which were enriched/gifted grade 10 english and advanced grade 12 english. almost everybody hated the old man and the sea, including the teacher. nobody understood it at all.

the iq results i posted yesterday are in truth actually probably spot-on. it is the truth that the ai wouldn't understand hemingway. at all. but most people don't either and that just makes it of average intelligence.
