i rigorously avoid naming people, and i'm purposefully fuzzy with places, when i need to be. i want you to be anonymous. you can out yourself, if you want.

but, i'm not telling stories - these are honest recollections, as best as i can present them.

so, a hunter s. thompson fan would certainly see a broad similarity in the things i write about, and may even in the way i write about them, but the philosophy here is really very different; he wrote flat-out fiction, broadly speaking, whereas i'm just leaving out names and contexts.
