i strongly oppose the blanket removal of all internal canadian trade barriers all at once, without study or justification. these items should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis, and it should require decades of study to determine the ideal approach, which may entail removing some barriers while maintaining others.

removing a 150 year old tariff should require some reasoning,

as it is, mark carney has taken the musk/trump approach of just breaking it without bothering to understand it, and the result is that there will be winners and losers from the legislation. some companies may benefit from increased market access, whereas others will suffer.

there will be significant layoffs and substantive job losses, mostly in the smaller provinces and more rural areas. this is going to severely hurt a lot of people, who didn't have the chance to adjust.
