mark carney has a full time job.

so long as he still wants to be prime minister of canada, he should not be accepting requests to join the transitional government in gaza and, in fact, that would appear to have been somewhat of a trick appointment by donald trump. it both places canada subservient to american hegemony and labels carney as a palestinian sympathizer, which will not help him electorally. in canada, anybody that stands up for palestine at all instantly loses their seat. i don't know if it's in reaction to the extremist protests we've been seeing here or if it's more deep-seeded, but identifying yourself as pro-palestinian is just about the best way to lose an election in canada, at almost every level of government. it's consistent. this is an underhanded insult.

the opposition should correctly make a big issue out of it and even try to topple the government over it.

conversely, if this scheme is to have any prospect of success, it will require focused people to actually run the place. gaza needs a functioning government, not a board of oligarchs.
