what i really want is something that will combine the novamin (which seems to be doing what it's supposed to be) with the stannous fluoride, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

there's a crest brand that has a whitening component to it.

apparently, the difference is that the stannous fluoride is bioavailable, and the sodium fluoride isn't. that is what i really need - more dietary fluoride, because there's none in the water, here. the sodium fluoride may kill bacteria on contact and/or provide a coating on the teeth, but it doesn't get uptaken or absorbed by your body.

to create a transition back into what i'm doing, the rdi for fluoride - ingested - is 4 mg/day. i'm not even getting .1 mg, as far as i can tell.

so, don't eat toothpaste, kids - but maybe consider using a bioavailable type of fluoride that you can absorb as you're brushing.
