i need to put this down, now.
it's up to france to figure this out. i do not like marine le pen's republican conservatism, and i don't like melenchon's reactionary fascism. if the choice ahead of france is between the right (le pen) and the far right (melenchon), it's in for some pain. and i don't mean some bread. it may have to endure some suffering.
what is clear enough is the failure of neo-liberalism and the need to realize it in building an alternative to capitalism, but that doesn't lie in mobilizing the most right-wing elements of french society (the muslim extremists) just because organizing the proletariat is too hard to do, in the year 2026. it may get even harder in the upcoming decades, but melenchon is not offering any more of an escape than lenin or trotsky or stalin did.
france is a pretty advanced capitalist society and, like the united states and canada, it may in the end not even require a revolution to get to communism, it may just require an end point of pulling the plug on it.
but i can't and don't support this in theory and can't and don't support it in practice. it's not a left. it's a far right, and it threatens extreme harm.
